This blog entry is going to be a little different and short for this will be the last one before my journey to Haiti. I wanted to talk about stepping out of your “Comfort Zone” and doing something that you have always desired, had a passion for but are to afraid of the unknown to do it. Well I’m here to give you that little push you need to STEP OUT!!!!
Although this is not my first mission’s trip to a third world country…it will be my first under such horrific conditions. Now some maybe thinking that when I journey on this trip that will take me 4hrs by plane and 5hrs by vehicle that I will be staying in some hotel at night and then journeying out to do missions work during the day. Just let me say... NOT SO!!!!! Although I’m told what my living conditions will be like when I get there; I’m completely sure I won’t feel the full effects until I’m physically there.
I’m stepping out of my “Comfort Zone" of having my nails and feet perfectly done and seen; clothes just right; smelling good; hair in place and some fancy bag and nice jewelry adoring my body. (No I’m not shallow, just likes nice things) To living in a mission house with no hot water, diseases, feces, amputations, bugs and no indoor plumbing in some places all so that I may be a blessing to those that are less fortunate then myself. Now this may sound crazy for someone to put themselves through this, but my thoughts are always…What if this were me or my family? I would want someone to have enough Christ and Compassion in them to help us!
We get so caught up in saying “Awe’ or “I’ll keep them in Prayer” that we rarely step out of our comfort zone to assist. For many reasons: Fear; Laziness; Takes up to much of our time; and often having to give up our comforts. Now I’m not saying that everyone has to go to a third world country to be a blessing and to be a help to someone but, I am saying that in order to do so you will have to leave your “Comfort Zone”.
I “Encourage”, “Empower” and “Push” you to step out!
Please keep me and all that I will be traveling with in your prayers.
Until my next posting remember…
"Forgive all who have offended you, not for them, but for yourself."
